Today is a great day.
Noah was rewarded by his school for making the honor roll with two tickets to the Davidson Wildcats vs. Samford Bulldogs basketball game. Noah decided that since my birthday is coming up on the 6th he would take me. I thought that was a great idea, and since we were celebrating my birthday I get to choose how we get there.
To date neither of my boys have expressed much interest in going for a ride on my motorcycle with me. This may have to do with me telling them how dangerous motorcycles can be, or their sense for how dangerous I can be. No telling.
So Noah and I made the 5 mile trip to Davidson to see the game. On the way there Noah kept saying “this is awesome”, and “I just don’t get it. You have to be 8 years old to ride in a car without a booster, and you have to wear a seatbelt, but they let you do this! I feel like I’m doing something illegal!”
When we got to the game I asked him if he wanted to go to the game, or just go for a longer ride? He didn’t hesitate. He wanted to go for a longer ride!
We went to the game anyway, but left halfway through the second period to take the “long way” home.
I just tucked him into bed and his last words to me tonight were “tomorrow can we go for a ride on the motorcycle again?”

Happy Birthday to me. Mission Accomplished.

Happy Birthday to you, Brad! Since I may or may not get a card in the mail. I love Noah's comment about doing something illegal!
Happy Birthday tomorrow!
Sage just saw the picture and said he wants to ride on the motorcycle too.
Mission accomplished times two, I guess.
A memorable connection with your son for a birthday present - doesn't get much better than that!! Forever thanking God for those great guardian angels He has given you...faithfully on duty for 36 years now!
Love, Mom
